Welcome to Living Apologetics. The purpose of this site is to foster discussion, communication, sharing, learning, growing, and edification for individuals and groups seeking Biblical Christian community. We live in a time when traditional, rational apologetics falter in the face of myriad lifestyles and values, and an era in which truth is considered relative to the believer - if it exists at all. Our culture accords us the freedom to believe whatever we like, because ultimately, belief is relegated to the realm of theoretical or make-believe. We are free to believe what we like so long as we keep it to ourselves and don't attempt to assert that it is True. Truth entails response and responsibility, and these do not contribute to the production and consumption upon which our society is based.
The one exception to this limitation that our culture has placed on individual expression in the last 20 years is how we live our lives. We are free to live out our faith values, even though we are often prevented from sharing those values with others verbally in the workplace or classroom. We have re-entered an age where what matters most is what we do - how we live. The best argument Christianity has in this philosophical and theological climate is, oddly enough, the first - and Biblically the only - argument it ever had. How we live.
If we want to reach our neighbors and peers and co-workers with the Gospel, then our most effective witness is not arguments and logic - which can simply be dismissed as 'what's good for you'. It's not that Christianity is completely illogical or irrational. There are plenty of good arguments and rationales for the faith. But these bear little weight in American culture today. Rather, how we live - consistently, faithfully, Biblically - becomes the most convincing argument about the truth of what we profess.
